My dad left a legacy. A legacy that ALL of us can enjoy: Texas Wine! GREAT Texas wine from amazing Texas grapes found right here in the High Plains.
My dad didn't set out to build the Texas wine industry, but that's what he did - at least, he gave it a pretty darn good start. My brothers, Duke & Jon and I - and our families, friends and extended families - are very proud of the recent historical designation Sagmor Vineyard received from the State of Texas. We are so proud of all my dad did to create such a special, meaningful and impactful place. I know dad would be proud of this recognition, and of the strides the Texas wine industry continues to make.
But we're not done. In fact, we have set out a new goal for Sagmor - one that has it contributing again to the Texas Wine Industry. We will have commercial wine grape production at Sagmor - that's very important in meeting our goals and fulfilling our vision for Sagmor going forward. And there's more.
THE FUTURE OF SAGMOR reflects upon and builds upon its history and its contributions. This historical place will once again serve as a "living lab." We will be working with industry and research partners to lead new opportunities and possibilties for the Texas Wine Industry.
We'll continue to share updates with you in the coming months. Our Big Plans are underway! With the establishment of SAGMOR FOUNDATION, we now have a platform from which our "living lab" - and other related programs - can launch. And our 'reboot' of the award honoring my dad's work, "The 'Doc' McPherson Award" will have a 2024 recipient named in November. We'll have many exciting related announcements soon!
The McPherson family thanks each of you for your interest and support of Sagmor Vineyard - its story, its history, and its legacy...built by my dad and his partner, Bob Reed.
With gratitude,
Kim McPherson
